Aktive Tornadofrühsaison – heute das nächste Kapitel?

by MeteoNews AG

November far too wet and sunny in the north

November, which will soon be coming to an end, was clearly too wet and lacking in sunshine in the north; locally, it was the wettest and least sunny November since measurements began. In the south, on the other hand, there was clearly too little precipitation and significantly more sunshine than normal under the protection of the Alps. Overall, temperatures were about normal, with the Swiss Plateau being a little too mild and the mountains a little too cold.

Next very mixed week in November

November is known as a moody month and has lived up to its name so far. What has been largely absent so far is high pressure. There are no signs of a prolonged period of fine weather this week either, although there will be high pressure weather on Thursday. However, this will result in the first widespread air frost in the Swiss Plateau on Thursday morning. The high pressure won't last long, however, and the coming weekend will see largely low-pressure conditions again.

With the convention of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), which came into force in 1950, the cooperation of a wide range of nations should lead to more reliable weather forecasts. This year, World Meteorological Day takes place under the motto "the future of weather, climate and water over generations".

Active Tornado Early Season – the next chapter today?

Last week, a powerful tornado in the state of Mississippi claimed numerous lives and caused major destruction in several small towns.
