The warmest September ever measured ends much too warm, and October also starts with exceptionally high and sometimes even record-breaking temperatures. Towards the middle of the week, it will be a little less warm in the north, but not really autumnal cool. In addition, there is also quite a lot of sun until the beginning of the coming week. Below is a brief overview of the weather in the coming days.
Today Tuesday locally again October records
Today, Tuesday, it was again very warm, locally also October temperature records were broken again (see table below), today due to good mixing by a freshening westerly wind exclusively in the lowlands.

Bern | 25.3 degrees | 25.7 degrees | 1864 |
Tänikon | 25.4 degrees | 25.4 degrees | 1971 |
The records of Bern and Lucerne are particularly remarkable, since these are very old measurement series.
Today, the maximum temperature in Delémont was 27.2 degrees, ahead of Lucerne with 27.0 degrees (see table below).

Until the end of the week, the temperatures will then slowly rise again.

Today Thursday with quite a lot of sun locally up to 25 degrees
Today's Thursday began, especially in the east, partly with somewhat denser high cloud fields, which loosened up more and more in the morning. In the afternoon, there is now widespread despite veil clouds much sunshine. With little wind, temperatures will locally reach the summer mark of 25 degrees, in northwestern Switzerland, in the Valais and in the Chur Rhine Valley even 26 degrees are locally possible (see Fig. 1). The zero degree limit is at 4000 meters and slightly higher. This means that it will remain exceptionally warm for the time of year!

Tomorrow, Friday, often sunny and quite widely summery warm
Tomorrow Friday, any fog will dissolve in the lowlands by noon at the latest, otherwise the sun will shine mostly throughout Switzerland, only a few passing cloud fields are expected, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures will be even slightly higher than today with some southwesterly to westerly winds, reaching the summer mark of 25 degrees in many places (see Fig. 2).

On Saturday quite sunny, in the north slightly less warm
After some dense clouds in the north and possibly one or two showers along the Alps during the night to Saturday, the weather will be quite sunny on Saturday and thus the last day of September, but slightly less warm at around 22 degrees. In the south, there is still a lot of sun and summer temperatures.
On Sunday and Monday a lot of sun and rising temperatures again
On Sunday and Monday, the sun will shine most of the time after the fog has dissipated, and temperatures will rise again. On Monday, it should be 25 degrees and just above. With the exception of the Föhn valleys and the Ticino, even local October temperature records are possible (see table below).
Station | Maximum Monday | October maximum | 10th rank | Data since |
Zurich-Kloten | about 25.5-26.5°C | 26.2°C | 24.4°C | 1959 |

Table 1: Expected temperature maxima next Monday compared to the absolute October records
On Tuesday in the second half of the day disturbance
On Tuesday morning there will still be a lot of sun, in the afternoon dense clouds will move in from the northwest with a disturbance, which will subsequently bring showers in the north. Before that, however, it will be warm again with temperatures well above 20 degrees.
In the second half of the week new high
After a slightly changeable Wednesday, especially in the east, with maximum temperatures just below 20 degrees, we will be in the area of influence of a new high pressure ridge in the second half of the week, which, after a little fog in each case, will again bring a lot of sun and increasingly very mild weather, especially in the mountains. However, it will not be really cool in autumn, even in the lowlands, so we will orient ourselves around the 20-degree mark, which is warmer than average for the time of year. In the south, it hardly cools down, here the maxima remain above 20 degrees.
Finally, an overview of the weather development from the weekend in the north and south (see Fig. 3).
